Lowell Royer is a visual communicator represented by his artist name OMtNI (silent ‘t’). Being a polymath, He enjoy working on various surfaces like paper, canvas, wood, skin and even concrete. With a style dubbed ‘Dramatic Realism’, he showcases his love for nature with exaggerated effects to bring out the features that strike him the most. Birds are his favorite subjects and he loves how they express themselves with their feathers and body language. This works well since he studied Illustration at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, in Jamaica, which showed him the ways of visual story telling. Therefore, most of his creative work stem from a deep conceptualization which is also why they contain fantasy elements. The name OMtNI was derived from the omni in words like omniscient, omnipresent and omnivore, which means all of whatever it comes before. However, instead of using ‘omniart’ to represent creative versatility, he used OMNI and placed a sword in the form of a‘t’ in the middle, making it uniquely him. He is based in Siboulie, Massacre where he works in his Studio-Gallery ‘SP¡RE’, derived from spire: the highpoint of something, and the ‘i’ is represented by an inverted exclamation point. Therefore, SP¡RE is the highpoint of his life, for the rest of his life. He is currently working on a website omtni.com to showcase his work “I can’t do it, is no excuse, you’ll prove you can when you try and be good at it through practice.” |
